Danby Quarry

Title:
Danby Quarry
Town:
Danby
County:
Rutland
State:
Vermont
Date:
1946
Description:
This photograph of the Danby Quarry shows a large crowd of people gathered on a flat area, most probably above the actual quarry. There is a stack of logs in front of the crowd to the right, as well as several piles of wood scraps on either side. The season appears to be winter due to the snow covering the ground and the warm winter dress of the crowd. The land appears to drop off just behind the crowd. Deciduous and coniferous trees are visible. Piles of smaller pieces of crushed marble are visible along the left side of the open area where the crowd is standing. This photograph appeared in a pamphlet released for the meeting of the three National Associations of the Marble Industry in Rutland, Vermont October 13-19, 1946.
