McIndoes, from New Hampshire Side

Title:
McIndoes, from New Hampshire Side
Town:
Barnet
County:
Caledonia
State:
Vermont
Date:
1915
Description:
This image depicts the village of McIndoes. The panoramic image is taken from a hillside and the town lies in a small valley. In the foreground there are pastures that start on the lower parts of the hills. The pastures reach the middle of the image where the Connecticut River flows through. On both sides of the river, there are many structures intermixed with deciduous and coniferous trees. On the New Hampshire side of the river there are many more wood framed structures, farms, dwellings, and barns. To the far left there is a road that connects many dwellings to a downtown that is hidden in the trees, yet a steeple protrudes out of the vegetation. The village runs along the center of the image and has many structures intermixed with trees. The Vermont side of the River is much different. There are still many farms intermingled throughout the land, but there are larger commercial and industrial buildings. Right on the river there is a mill with a smokestack. The downtown is much denser and has fewer trees. There are some brick and stone buildings mixed in with wood framed structures. Behind the town there are rolling hills that are cleared in the lower regions, yet get more forested as one ascends.
