Title:
Church Street 1962
- Date:
- 1962
- Description:
- Looking toward the First Unitarian Universalist Church, this historic photograph gives a glimpse of a clear day on Church St. In the immediate right of the frame, retail stores can be seen next to some parked cars. Closest to the camera, a sign for Bailey's Music Rooms leans into the picture. Next to it a three-story building with white trim houses Gee's Shoe Shop and Joseph's Jewelers. On the corner of the next block, one can see a white building housing Woody's Sporting Goods on the first level. Further down, toward Pearl St., more shops line the street. In the left side of the picture, one can make out more parked cars and other retail stores including Kelley Drugs and a store advertising "CAMERAS" in white letters. Pete Chagnon writes on 2008-07-01:
The area in the upper right (Woods and Centers) burned in 1974.

Title:
Church Street 2008
- Date:
- 2008-05-30
- Description:
- This image depicts Church Street in downtown Burlington. To the right of the image there is a prominent three-story brick building with many storefronts on the first floor. The Church Street Marketplace runs through the center of the image and there are multiple people, rocks, umbrellas, seating, and trees that line the street. To the left there are more storefronts with signs that are visible: “Scribbles”, “Stella” and “Coming Soon” sign for a place called “Boloco”. Part of the Unitarian Church is visible in the background. The major differences between the images are the stores, the addition of the pedestrian walkway, and the multiple trees, banners, benches, and rocks that line the walkway.
