Earth Road in Ely

Title:
Earth Road in Ely
Town:
Vershire
County:
Orange
State:
Vermont
Date:
1883
Description:
This image looks up a narrow run-down (eroded?) dirt street in Ely. Small wooden-framed houses follow along the sides of the road. The houses appear to be set on slag piles from the mine. Larger company mine buildings are located in the background. The only vegetation visible are small shrubs attempting to grow through rocks and rubble. The landscape is littered with rocks and boulders of all sizes. The hill on the right appears exposed down to bedrock. The season is possibly summer.
