Title:
View of Farms and Lake Champlain from Mount Philo
Town:
Charlotte
County:
Chittenden
State:
Vermont
Date:
2008-04-26
Description:
In this picture we see an overhead view of Charlotte farms and Lake Champlain. In the lake we see several islands and peninsulas. At the far shore of Lake Champlain, we see New York and the Adirondack mountains. In the foreground we see exposed rock with a metal fence protecting pedestrians from the rocky cliffs below. Below the cliff we see a mix of deciduous and coniferous trees. Being early spring, the hardwoods have not yet developed leaves. In the middle of the railing we see a road that runs perpendicular to the lake. Compared to the older photograph, a new protective metal railing has been added in the time thatís passed since 1964.

Title:
View of Farms from Mt. Philo
Town:
Charlotte
County:
Chittenden
State:
Vermont
Date:
2008-04-19
Description:
This image was taken from the uppermost lookout of Mt. Philo. It contains the view of Lake Champlain in the distance and the farmland present in between the summit and the lake. The photo was taken in early Spring, and the weather was sunny. Although some of the undergrowth obscures the visibility of the land below, you can still see the development as compared to the original photograph. The road in the far right appears the same, but you can see the large amount of development that has taken place since the earlier photograph was taken. There are many more houses in the more recent photo. Brush in foreground and Adirondack Mountains in the distance.
