Bridges at White River Junction (1927)

Title:
Bridges at White River Junction (1927)
Town:
Hartford
County:
Windsor
State:
Vermont
Date:
1927-11-05
Description:
This photograph shows the receding floodwaters from the 1927 flood. Ripple marks are visible on the mud and silt covered ground in the foreground. The river flows under an iron bridge that appears to be undamaged by the flooding. Across the water a few houses and other buildings are visible against a low partially forested hill. A large portion of the hill is excavated for sand and gravel or because of a landslide. The deciduous trees among the houses and along the hill do not have leaves and the season is fall.
