1927 Flood, White River Junction

Title:
1927 Flood, White River Junction
Town:
Hartford
County:
Windsor
State:
Vermont
Date:
1927-11-04
Description:
This image shows White River Junction inundated by floodwaters. In the foreground sits the only section of town not under water, where two lucky houses and numerous automobiles are visible. Beyond the foreground the town is partially submerged underwater with floodwaters reaching levels high enough to flow over both iron bridges. Elm trees line the streets and the hills above town appear dry, and forested. The season is either autumn or spring because there are no leaves on the deciduous trees. Note that the graded school building is left side, middle distance and is shown in other archive images.
