Description:
The historic image gives a bird's eye view of the town along the Winooski River. A caption at the bottom of the image reads, "11-12-27-12:00M. Winooski, Vt. - Pontoon Bridge." The image shows the river traveling over a dam and past the Champlain mill just below the center of the photograph. A pontoon bridge has been constructed at the site of the old bridge connecting Burlington to Winooski. A railroad bridge was also destroyed further downstream. The city of Burlington is visible on the left side of the image. Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains are in the background of the photograph.

Description:
The recent photograph shows a new bridge constructed at the site of the pontoon bridge in the historic image. The streets have been paved and many parking lots have been added to the area. The riparian zone is now forested.
