The recent photograph shows the same area. The bridge has been replaced. The riparian zone now has a thin strip of vegetative cover, but much of the landscape in the photograph remains cleared. Some new buildings have been added to the community.

Description:
The historic image shows a bird's eye view of a community along the Lamoille River after the 1927 flood. A house and some farm buildings are close to the edge of a steep bank alongside the widened river channel. A bridge and the road approaching the bridge have been damaged in the flood. The riparian zone is bare. Sediment has been deposited in the river's floodplain. Most of the landscape in the image has been cleared. A title at the bottom of the photograph reads, "(11-12-27-11:30A) Fairfax, Vt.
