Cutter Pond
Town:
Williamstown
County:
Orange
State:
Vermont
Date:
2000-08-17
Description:
The new photograph shows a grassy, open field surrounded by a wood post, wire fence in the foreground of the photograph. Cutter pond is visible in the background of the image. There is a forested hill on the right side of the photograph. The land was used as working farm (the Martin Farm) until 1965. In 1952 the farmer and his family founded a summer camp here that is still going today. The hill from which the old photograph was taken was farmed until the late 1940's and is now covered with trees. The white farmhouse in the old photo burned down in 1925 and was rebuilt in 1929. The hill to the far right in the old photo was cleared and had a ski tow on it for many years.
