Town:
Burlington
County:
Chittenden
State:
Vermont
Date:
2000-06-20
Description:
The recent image shows the same view. The water front area is no longer full of factories and warehouses. It is a grassy park with a boardwalk. Title:
From Battery Park
Town:
Burlington
County:
Chittenden
State:
Vermont
Date:
2007-04
Description:
This image is captured from the Battery Park Hill looking South towards the Burlington waterfront. Several, leafless trees line the foreground. Beneath the trees are residential buildings which are separated from railroad tracks by a paved road. Beyond the railroad tracks, the Burlington waterfront and boathouse can be seen. The recently built Leahy Center can be seen in the distance next to a large ferry. The original photo, a stereoview, is much different. The lumberyards in the original images have been replaced by a grassy waterfront area. The picket fence which once sat between Battery Park hill and the area below is no more. In its place, several trees have grown. Also, the railroad house which is clearly visible in the first image has been replaced. The significance of this reshoot is the removal of industry.
