Title:
Abandoned Commercial Building
Town:
Stockbridge
County:
Windsor
State:
Vermont
Date:
1962-09-17
Description:
This black and white photograph captures the fašade and west side of an abandoned commercial building in Gaysville. The large, wood-frame, hipped-roof commercial building is sited along the left side of a paved, two-lane highway. The building is clad in wood clapboards and features large display windows along the first story. A couple gas pumps stand at the front of the old store, and advertisements are posted on the front and side of the building. An auction sign hangs on the fašade. Another building stands just up the road. A car is parked near the second building. Guard posts protect a steep drop-off to the river in the left foreground. Shrubs and deciduous trees grow thickly to the rear of the buildings. The season is summer.
