Town:
Middlesex
County:
Washington
State:
Vermont
Date:

Description:
This is a black and white aerial photograph of an interstate construction site. This photograph depicts a location between Montpelier and Waterbury. Railroad tracks run down the left side of the photo. Utility lines run parallel to the railroad tracks. The old channel is pictured on the right side of the photo. Mountains are visible in the background. Conifers and leafy deciduous trees dot the hilly landscape toward the back right of the photo. Shrubs are pictured around the river. A paved road is seen running perpendicular to the railroad tracks in the center of the photo. Automobiles, trucks, and other construction vehicles are pictured. Wooden-frame buildings sporadically dot the landscape. Skip Flanders writes on 2010-11-19: This photo is in the Town of Middlesex showing I 89 construction in the Wilder Underpass Silver Ledge Area. This is the site of the long curved bridge on US Rt 2 over both the CV RR Tracks and I-89. The field on the right hand edge of the photo is now the Middlesex recreational area. The Winooski River is on the left of the CV RR Tracks. The water on the lower right is an old river channel cut off when the River was rerouted when the CVRR was constructed in 1848-49.
