This is a black and white photo of blasting that occurred in New Haven during the fall of 1939. There is a dirt road leading up to a pile of rocks where the blasting occurred. There is a group of individuals standing amongst the rock. Two of those people include Dr. Walker and Beoch Bly of Middlebury. There are wooden poles and rocks lining the dirt road. To the left is a mound of dirt with a large rock at the base of the mound of dirt. There is an open clearings of land behind the people looking at the excavation with an outline of trees in the background. To the right of the photo is the beginning of a body of water.
