Description:
This photograph shows a cannon monument near Main Street in Middlebury. In the foreground there is a small patch of grass. In the center is the cannon. The inscription on the other side of this cannon reads: "This cannon was presented to W.P. Russell Post No. 89 G.A.R. Dept. of VT in the Year 1910 by the US Govt." To the right of the monument, there is a bench. Towards the right there is paved Main Street. There is a pedestrian and a few cars driving on the road. To the right there are several commercial buildings. One of them is the "Marquis Theatre." On the left side there is a brick commercial building. There is a deciduous tree in view.
