Description:
This image shows a suspension bridge over the Missisquoi River at Bancroft Falls in Sheldon Springs. The bridge opened in 1888 and was built by the Berlin Iron Bridge Company. The bridge has railings and steel cables. In the foreground are some falls over large rocks. Plants and small trees line the banks of the river. On the far bank, there is a dilapidated wooden house and many deciduous trees. The bridge is resting on a stone support on the far bank. This information comes from "Crossings, A History of Vermont Bridges" by Robert McCullough.
