Title:
1927 Flood Movie Screenshot: Waterbury 4
Town:
Waterbury
County:
Washington
State:
Vermont
Date:
1927-11
Description:
This image is a screenshot from a movie made using actual footage from the 1927 flood. The clip of the movie that this shot came from is prefaced with the caption, "Houses swept from foundations and carried several blocks at Waterbury, Vermont---32 lives lost." This shot is of street in Waterbury. Key things about this photo that would enable modern-day location are that the road is straight and there is a row of trees lining in on at least the right side. The key pieces about this photo that seem out of order are the tree in the left foreground leaning over to the right, the house swept into the roadway, and the large piece of debris caught in the trees. Each of these three pieces of this picture point towards the flow of water being from left to right.
