Title:
1927 Flood Movie Screenshot: Jonesville 3
Town:
Richmond
County:
Chittenden
State:
Vermont
Date:
1927-11
Description:
This image is a screenshot from a movie made using actual footage from the 1927 flood: This image is from a clip of the 1927 Flood Movie that begins with the caption "The Central Vermont R.R. was practically wrecked but through the energy and financial aid of the Canadian National R.R. was rebuilt and running again in 92 days." In this shot is a building across from the Jonesville train station. In the foreground of this photo you can see that one of the two identical train tracks has fallen down, as the earth on which was lay was literally eroded away from underneath it by the flood waters. This explains why the track closer to the river was affected and the other one was not. On the left, Jonesville buildings. On the right, the Winooski River.
