Description:
This historic stereoview documents an open pit at the Elizabeth Mine in Strafford VT. In the foreground, (1-2) large holes appear to have been excavated out of the side of a large bedrock exposure. In these holes primitive bracing and some tamping tools are visible. Above the bedrock exposure are small clusters of young mixed species trees. The open pit talus pile appears to begin at the bottom of the photograph, at the entrance to the first pit. Season summer.
