Town:
Alburg
County:
Grand Isle
State:
Vermont
Date:

Description:
This photo was taken of the Alburg Rouses Point Bridge constructed and opened to traffic in September of 1987 by the Vermont Agency of Transportation. The photo was taken from Rouses Point New York looking across Lake Champlain towards Alburg, Vermont. The bridge took 3 years to construct. This bridge replaced a low level truss bridge which consisted of six approach spans and a swing span to allow for boat passage. The old bridge was built in 1938 and was removed in 1988. The old bridge was a toll bridge. The tolls were removed after the new bridge was completed and opened to traffic. Note the boat marina on the left and right sides of the photo.
