Albert Needham

Title:
Albert Needham
Town:
Guilford
County:
Windham
State:
Vermont
Date:
1911
Description:
This is a photograph of Albert B. Needham, sitting, we believe, for a formal portrait in Guilford, Vermont. He seems to be holding a straw boater in his lap, with a dark background behind him. He is wearing a long-sleeved, button up shirt—white and grey stripes, and a dark-colored tie, with what appears to be vertical, white stripes. It also seems that he is wearing black dress pants. Albert Needham was born June 18. 1830, and died in October of 1916. At the time that this picture was taken, he was 76 years young. Albert is the father of Walter B. Needham, and was said to be whimsical—he has a slightly amused expression, while staring directly at the camera. The Needham family were well known for their slate quarrying skills. Walter’s A Book of Country Things explained traditional slate working methods, and described his life.
