Description:
The historic image gives a bird's eye view of the town along the Winooski River. A caption at the bottom of the image reads, "11-12-27-12:00M. Winooski, Vt. - Pontoon Bridge." The image shows the river traveling over a dam and past the Champlain mill in the middle of the photograph. A pontoon bridge has been constructed at the site of the old bridge connecting Burlington to Winooski. A railroad bridge was also destroyed near the top of the photograph. A road and several buildings were wiped out in the lower, left quadrant of the image. The city of Burlington is visible on the left side of the image.
