Description:
This image depicts Battery Park in the North end of Burlington. As it is early spring, none of the deciduous trees have started to bud yet. In the foreground we see grass interspersed with patches of dirt. There is a road on the left side of the image in front of a row of buildings. There is also a road with adjacent buildings on the far side of the image, which is the park border. Through the center of the park we see two cross cutting concrete pathways that lead to the street. There are several coniferous trees visible in the far background, and several lampposts and signs in the middle of the park. Compared to the image taken in 1949, there are several differences in the landscape. First off the large deciduous tree that the man in the prior image is standing next to is no longer present. It appears that the signs and lamp posts in the new image were not present in the original photo. The tree groves and clearings that we see in the old photo are varying from what we see in the retake image. Notably, the house we see in the upper left corner of the image appears to be the same in both the new and old image.
