Aerial View of Lake Beebe

Title:
Aerial View of Lake Beebe
Town:
Brandon
County:
Rutland
State:
Vermont
Date:
1910 - 1940
Description:
This black and white aerial view looks down over Lake Beebe in Brandon. Lake Beebe spreads out in the foreground of the image. Another lake, either Echo or Hortonia, is visible further into the background. Much of the landscape is forested, although some of the landscape has been cleared on the right side of the image. A few dwellings and farm complexes dot the cleared areas of the landscape. One cabin is sited in the forest on the far edge of Lake Beebe. A road runs along the right side of Lake Beebe and disappears off the right edge of the image. Utility poles line the road. Hills and mountains span the horizon. The thick foliage suggests a summer season. This photograph was taken by a photographer for the Eastern Illustrating & Publishing Co. and contributed to the Landscape Change Program by the Penobscot Marine Museum, located in Searsport, ME. Eastern Illustrating was a postcard company located in Belfast, ME that took thousands of photographs throughout New England and upstate New York between 1909 through the 1950s.
