County:
Rutland
State:
Vermont
Date:

Description:
In this photograph, a group of men are working on the construction of the new crossing of the Clarendon and Pittsford Railroad and Route 4 in Rutland. At this point in the construction, the men are laying the wooden ties of the railroad tracks. The set of tracks on the right is a little farther along, as the men are also working to attach the metal tracks. A construction vehicle with an attached plow is helping to spread the marble chips that form the foundation of the railroad tracks beneath the wooden ties. An existing set of tracks is visible to the left of those being newly constructed. The surrounding land is grassy with clusters of coniferous and deciduous trees.
