Abrahams 2008

Title:
Abrahams 2008
Town:
Burlington
County:
Chittenden
State:
Vermont
Date:
2008-04-10
Description:
This photo shows a modern day view from the corner of Church and College Streets. The "Albertsons" sign has been replaced with "Leunigs," the name of the restaurant below. The trees in the foreground are bare of trees leading one to believe this picture was taken in Spring or Fall. As it were, this picture is from the spring. It was taken in the morning, the reason why there are few people about. Devin Colman writes on 2008-07-15: The underlying building dates to 1847 and was Federal in style. The existing porcelain enameled steel exterior cladding was designed by local architect Louis Newton and installed in three phases in 1933, 1946 and 1956. The original "Abrahams" lettering remains intact under the existing "Leunig's" lettering, which is printed on adheshive vinyl panels that can be removed in the future.
