Title:
Cooley Covered Bridge and Horsedrawn Haystack
Town:
Pittsford
County:
Rutland
State:
Vermont
Date:
1900 - 1920
Description:
The handwritten caption on this historic image reads, "Cooley Bridge Build 1849." The covered bridge to the left of the image has an entrance that slants back towards the bridge, and looks to be in relatively good condition. The dirt road that exits the bridge and leads to the photographer is joined by another dirt road coming from the right. Traveling on this road is a wagon drawn by two horses. The wagon has an enormous haystack in the back piled several meters high and is several meters in depth. A man sits atop the haystack with the reigns of the horses. The area surrounding the road and bridge is wooded, with mountains in the background. The season is summer.
