Autumn Colors in Lincoln

Title:
Autumn Colors in Lincoln
Town:
Lincoln
County:
Addison
State:
Vermont
Date:
1961
Description:
This color photograph, by E.L. Gockeler, looks out over a rural valley in the town of Lincoln on an autumn day in 1961. A narrow, dirt road enters at the foreground of the image, slopes down a small hill, curves to the left, passes a farm complex, curves sharply to the right, passes another farm, and exits on the right edge of the photograph. A wood fence strung with barbed wire encloses a pasture at the foreground of the image, to the left of the road. To the right of the road, just past the first curve, is a farm complex. The farm consists of several, red, wood-frame, gable-roof barns and outbuildings, all clustered near the road. Cleared fields surround the buildings. The pasture on the opposite side of the road may correspond with this farm. Just past the sharp curve to the right, on the far side of the road, sits a dwelling and a small outbuildings. The fields around these two buildings have been cleared. Several leafy, deciduous trees, full with vivid autumn leaves, line the side of the road. Hills rise beyond the valley, all thickly forested with colorful, deciduous trees. All rights reserved, copyright Vermont Life Magazine. Contact Vermont Life at editors@VermontLlfe.com
