The Mansion House

Title:
The Mansion House
Town:
Alburg
County:
Grand Isle
State:
Vermont
Date:
1883?
Description:
This historic photo shows a large house with first and second floor porches surrounded by sparse trees in winter or late fall. This large square building also has a couple chimneys. The few leaves on the trees, and the dried leaves on the ground, suggests this is fall. A sturdy wooden fence lines the driveway and there is a grass lawn in the foreground. To the right of the buidling there are a couple small sheds. Esther Munroe Swift writes on 2004-11-26 that the Hamilton Childs Gazetteer & Business Directory for Franklin & Grand Isle Counties, published in 1883, lists C.C. Knapp as the proprietor of the Mansion House. This image would seem to date about that time.
