Title:
Bridge Collapse
Town:
Marshfield
County:
Washington
State:
Vermont
Date:
1927-08
Description:
This image shows a collapsed bridge. In the foreground is still water, with small plants of the right bank. The remains of a wooden bridge are scattered in the rest of the river, with large pieces of lumber littering both the water and the far bank. A car with many people around it is partially in the water being held up by a wooden board still partially held up by the stone supports on the far bank. In the distance, cows graze in a field, and beyond them are the outlines of wooded hills. There is one man on the right side of the bridge. This information comes from "Crossings, A History of Vermont Bridges" by Robert McCullough.
