- Stereoview shows the ice jam on Main Street with great damage to the community. The historic photograph shows ice and mud in a street in town. There are houses, farm buildings, and some young trees in the town. Coarse woody debris and ice throughout the image. There is a round barn in the background and the street is lined by buildings some of which are badly damaged. There is a white wooden picket fence on left and a broken unpainted one on the left. There are low forested hills in the background. Winter. A caption at the bottom of the historic photograph reads, "238. Ice Jam, Main Street, West Hartford, Vt. 1867."
