Description:: The photo shows the construction of Interstate 89 along the Winooski River and railroad tracks along with Route 2 on which cars and trucks are traveling. A few houses and farms are in the floodplain with agricultural fields and pastures separated by wire fences. Note the snow scattered in patches on edges of fields suggesting that this is spring. There is a collapsed barn in the lower left with a car behind it. There are utility poles and lines and a neat arrangement of cottages to the right of Route 2 that look like they will be swallowed by the encroaching embankment that marks the advancing interstate highway. On the embankment is a bulldozer moving material. The Winooski River is to the right with a power station. There also farm fields, houses and road across the river. The riparian zone is partially to mostly forested.Skip Flanders writes on 04-22-2007 that LS04563 which is labeled as Montpelier is actually Middlesex at the site on the Middlesex interchange in I-89.
