Title:
Sheep Rancher and Sheep
- Date:
- 1890 - 1950
- Description:
- Photo shows bearded sheep farmer with a hat and with sheep in foreground grazing on grassy pasture. Note barns and silo and wooden and wire fences in background as well as deciduous trees and perhaps a fruit tree or two. Looks like summer. Esther Munroe Swift writes on 2004-12-26: Nice photo of a well maintained farm, sheep & buildings. The photo must be late summer or early autumn for sheep to have that much fleece. Also some trees have already lost their leaves. Traditionally male lambs' tails were left un-cut for easy identification. Ewe lambs' tails usually were docked (cut off). Sheep at far right is an adult because of its size and heavy fleece.
