Title:
Dam Up the River from the Old Site of Bartlettt's Foundry
Town:
Bristol
County:
Addison
State:
Vermont
Date:
1860 - 1890
Description:
This stereoview looks upstream past a log dam and old foundation or stone wall. The near shore is vegetated and appears to be overgrowing the wall. Water pours over the dam onto a jumble of rock and perhaps logs, into a pool below. Note the prevalence of white birch and large boulders or structures in the far background. Ted Lylis writes on 2008-11-27: I believe, from the position of the "Split Rock" formation in the background that this is the original location of the Bartlett's dam, which was downstream from the later, and current site and closer to the "second bridge. Note the wood staved penstock at the bottom right.
