Title:
Blanchards Quarry
- Date:
- 1895
- Description:
- Historic photo shows a team of six horses with a wagon being loaded by overhead winch from a derrick (with a pulley at the top of the arm). The load will be cut granite blocks; six men look on as the first block is about to land on the wagon. There is a stone building in the background with a brick smokestack and piles of cut granite blocks litter the ground. In the foreground are weeds and a dirt road. There are partially forested slopes in the background. There is a flat car in the right middle ground on what must be railroad tracks. Blanchards is written on the negative with the ID A-3. For another shot of the same location see LS02201.
