Title:
Loggers in Moose River Area in Northeast Kingdom
Town:
East Haven
County:
Essex
State:
Vermont
Date:
1860 - 1880
Description:
Image shows a large group of men gathered in front of two buildings. Several are holding axes and one is wearing a white apron suggesting he might be the cook. Every man is wearing a hat and many are smoking pipes. There is a horse to the left of the men. There is a sawn tree in the foreground as well as lots of logging slash and a wooden barrel. In the middle ground are the two buildings. The one on the left has a ladder on the roof as well as what appears to be wood strapping over tar paper both on the roof and on the walls of the building. There are men standing on a porch roof of the right building which appears to be sheathed in the same fashion as the left building. This is fall or spring as the few deciduous trees visible have no leaves. There are mostly coniferous trees visible in the distance.
