Title:
Bird's Eye View of Chelsea
Town:
Chelsea
County:
Orange
State:
Vermont
Date:
1860
Description:
This is a view of a town amidst rolling hills. The town itself has too many buildings to describe them all. There is a church, as identified by bell tower. Near the front end of town there is a town common surrounded by a white wooden fence. The green has a few planted trees and flag pole without a flag. There are several large buildings surrounding the green, particularly on the two ends. At the far end of town there is a cemetery at the base of the hill. The foreground is fields with what looks like corn growing closest to town. The background to the left is a mostly cleared hillside with distinct wooden fences dividing up the pasture. There are a couple more ridges in the background. Amy Hayden writes on 2008-03-13: Actually there is only 1 church, the "bell tower" on the left is the School, the one in the middle is the court house and the one on the far right is the United Church of Chelsea.
