A Crowd by an Accident

Title:
A Crowd by an Accident
Town:
Unknown
County:
No_County
State:
Vermont
Date:
1935 - 1942
Description:
A crowd of women and men have gathered at a roadside railing and lean over the fence, watching an accident scene below. There is a set of railroad tracks below; what they are watching is hidden from view, but other photographs reveal it to be a car sunken in the water below this railroad bridge. A sign at the far end of the line of people reads "Railroad Look Out". Above the heads of a few of the men, next to the Railroad sign, we can see the back of a towing truck ready to pull the car from the water. The road is dirt and a car can be seen driving away in the distance; another car is parked at the side of the road at the right edge of the photograph. Utility poles line the left side of the rural road. Looking into the backdrop of the image reveals the hilly nature of the terrain; on the left, a field, and on the right, the tree-lined road.
