Title:
Addison House
- Date:
- 1860 - 1900
- Description:
- This is a black and white photo of a section of Middlebury. In the distance is the Addison House, situated on a grassy lawn scattered with deciduous trees. In the foreground is a large amount of debris. The quality of the photo makes it difficult to decipher what has happened but it could be damage from the 1891 fire in Middlebury. There is a brick building that has partially destroyed. There is also some type of circular stone foundation with scattered debris around it. This section of devastation is to the right of Otter Creek that runs through the center of Middlebury. Next to the river is a stand of deciduous trees. Behind the destroyed brick building is a dirt road that leads to a wooden bridge that crosses the creek. Beyond the road are utility lines and a wooden fence, along with a stone building with an arched window that looks like it could be a church.
