Aerial View of River Valley

Title:
Aerial View of River Valley
Town:
Stockbridge
County:
Windsor
State:
Vermont
Date:
1976-04-18
Description:
This historic image is a postcard of an aerial view in Stockbridge. There is a main road along the left side of the image at the base of a hill with several buildings to the left of it, including a church in the foreground. A house sits in a clearing above the hill on the left. There is evidence of landslides below the clearing all the way down to the road. There is a wooded area to the right of the road, and another clearing with small houses in the foreground. To the right of this are a small section of woods and then a meandering river that runs parallel to the road, which is located on a river terrace. Another road turns off from the main road on the left and runs perpendicular to it, eventually crossing the river with a bridge. To the right of the river and bridge crossing on up on another terrace is section of development, with a large cleared field behind it. A road crosses the front right corner of the image, and more of the river, roads, and buildings can be seen in the background going off into the distance. Overall, it is development in a river valley surrounded by mountains. The vegetation suggests a summer season.
