Description:
This historic photograph shows an aerial view of the Breeding Barn and Brick House at Shelburne Farms. The barn and house sit in a field surrounded by various deciduous trees. Surrounding the barn and house are open fields with patches deciduous trees, many of which appear to be elms. The large field in the foreground has an uncharacteristic mound, which is glacially deposited. It's a drumlin. Leading to and from the barn and house and spreading across the property in all directions are dirt or gravel roads, which serve as the primary means of access to all the farm buildings. The fields behind the barn are open, with only sporadic elm trees, or small pockets of forested visible within them. The season is summer. Photograph curtsey of Fairchild Aerial Surveys.
