Esther Munroe Swift writes on 2004-12-22: East Calais on the Kingsbury Branch of the Winooski River was for many years a bustling village with a post office, two stores, a saw mill, grist mill, a box manufacturing & a wood turning shop that manufacture handles for hoes, rakes & forks and a shingle mill. Note in far rear of photo the Union Church. Linda Gray writes on 2014-04-26: ??Could be South Woodbury? I don't see the pattern of buildings in East Calais at the time in this photo.
