Hunting trophies at the residence of W. Webb

Title:
Hunting trophies at the residence of W. Webb
Town:
Shelburne
County:
Chittenden
State:
Vermont
Date:
1940 - 1950
Description:
This historic photograph shows the hunting trophies of W. Webb at his residence. The heads of several animals, including moose, hang on the rear wall over the fireplace. Two large bears are posed on either side of the room, and several bear skins cover the floor. The room itself is covered in what appears to be knotty pine. Beams support the sloping ceiling. A stone fireplace with a large mantle is the focal point of the room. The furnishings, including two arm chairs and two floor lamps around the fireplace and a sofa and rocking chair on the left, are interspersed among the trophies. Julie Eldridge Edwards writes on 2011-03-17: This trophy room was on Southern Acres, not originally part of Shelburne Farms.
