Aerial Photograph of the Winooski River after Flood

Title:
Aerial Photograph of the Winooski River after Flood
Town:
Middlesex
County:
Washington
State:
Vermont
Date:
1927-11-12
Description:
The historic photograph shows the Winooski River after the flood of 1927. A caption at the bottom of the photograph reads, "11-12-27-10:30A. West of Montpelier, Vt." The riparian zone is bare. Sediment deposited by the floodwaters is visible in the floodplain. Roads on both sides of the river appear to have been damaged in the flood. There is a partially forested hill in the upper half of the photograph. Kathryn Estey Beaudry writes on 2013-10-03: This is my great aunt Nora's farm land just after the 1927 flood. If you enlarge, you can see the buildings at the left of the photo.
