This image is taken of Pearl Street on a busy afternoon. On the right side of the image the post office and a large office building can be seen on the corner of Pearl Street and Elmwood Street. On the left stands a tall building with a strip of smaller buildings leading their way into the distance. Both cars and bikers line the street, there are even protesters who stand in front of a black iron fence on the right side of the image at the streetlight. Blue mountains and further streetlights can be seen down the road in the distance.
This image is very similar to the one taken in 1980 during the time when Dutch Elm disease decimated the elm tree population in the area. The buildings are the same in both images, yet there is a much greater presence of plant and tree life in the 2009 image. Also, Pearl Street in 2009 is buzzing with commotion, while the street in 1980 seems almost deserted.
