This recent photograph shows the view from Battery Park looking south. The scene is utterly changed from the original. The sawmills, warehouses, and much of the train yard are gone. The slope of the hill is covered by vegetation and a few trees, and it immediately overlooks the roofs of town houses and a gravel parking lot. Power lines stretch over the houses from a pole to the left. More town houses and another parking lot with cars in it are visible farther back. The right of the photograph shows Waterfront Park. A small road with cars parked along it runs parallel to the railroad track, which is fenced off. To the right is Waterfront Park. Both the bike path and boardwalk are visible. The ECHO Center appears at the southern end of the park. Several boats are visible in the harbor. More buildings and parking lots lie in the background. A single smokestack is visible in the distance. Mt. Philo and Snake Mountain are visible on the horizon, as in the original photograph. The season is spring.
