UVM Anitivirus Information
Apple OS X/Macintosh
There is currently no antivirus software for Mac OS X licensed by UVM. Product testing of several brands of Mac OS X antivirus software by ETS is ongoing. If and when a product is found to be suitable for university licensing and distribution it will be posted here.
Microsoft Windows
Antivirus software for Microsoft Windows is available for both student/personally owned computers and UVM-owned departmental computers:
Antivirus for Home/Personal Computers
Microsoft Security Essentials is available for download for all student and faculty/staff home and personal computers. |
Antivirus for UVM Departmental Computers
Microsoft Forefront Endpoint Protection is available for download for UVM-owned departmental computers. |
Computers purchased from the Computer Depot will have antivirus software preinstalled and should require no additional installation or configuration.
Please uninstall any previously installed antivirus software before upgrading. Older antivirus products like ESET NOD32 or Symantec AntiVirus do not remain licensed, maintained or supported by ETS. Outdated or unlicensed antivirus software does not offer any protection against viruses.
