October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM)
Have you noticed the significant increase in phishing, spear phishing, online fraud attempts, malware attacks, and data breaches? The list of attack vectors is practically endless but there is one that we can all work to alleviate – the one that requires human participation. Now is the time to bring awareness to campus. Come to an event, check out the web links below, and spread the word.
The Information Security Operations Team (ISOT) wants to partner with you on cyber security. Please join us at these ISOT sponsored events:
Shown in Williams Family Room Davis Center, 1:00 pm.
October 4, Thursday: Security Awareness and Communication in the C-Suite
Shown in Sugar Maple Ballroom, Davis Center, 1:00 pm.
October 11, Thursday: What You Should Know to Stay Safe Online
Shown in Kalkin 322, 2:00 pm.
October 16, Tuesday: Planning for Success
Shown in Chittenden Bank Room, Davis Center, 1:00 pm.
October 30, Tuesday: How to Create an Engaging Program People Want to Take
Shown in Frank Livak Room, Davis Center, 1:00 pm.
Each presentation lasts approximately one hour. If your schedule permits, please stay for a discussion after each event.
IT personnel may also be interested in the monthly threat update from the SANS Internet Storm Center. Although there is no group showing planned on campus, it is available online on Wednesday, October 10, at 1:00 pm, at no charge.
