Overall Objectives: Understanding UVM's career pay structure will enable supervisors to properly classify positions in order to accomplish their business objectives. This session will provide information about UVM's Career Pay structure. Learn about the position-based compensable criteria that are used to classify positions at UVM. We will discuss the Fair Labor Standards Act and how FLSA determinations are made.

Introduction to Emotional Intelligence

Overall Objectives: This workshop will provide an introduction to the core concepts of emotional intelligence and how it can be used to improve work performance and leadership skills. While emotional intelligence isn't the sole predictor of human performance and development potential, it is proven to be a key indicator in these areas. Emotional intelligence is not a static factor — to the contrary, one's emotional intelligence changes over time and can be developed in targeted areas. Additionally, ways to arrange for a full personal assessment and consultation at UVM, including cost, will be explained.

Preventing Sexual Harassment and Bias

Overall Objectives: Join the Office of Affirmative Action for a conversation about your rights and responsibilities related to the prevention of sexual harassment and bias on campus. This interactive session will explore the issue of sexual harassment and bias prevention using real life examples and will give you the tools to recognize and respond appropriately. This workshop will also cover the ins and outs of reporting and documenting incidences of harassment and bias on campus and discuss the support resources available.

Writing Effective Position Descriptions
