Conference & Event Services will close at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 and reopen on Monday, January 3, 2011 at 8:00 a.m.. R25 will still be available for submitting on-line reservation requests, and all reservation and space requests will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis, once the office opens on Monday, January 3, 2011.
The Davis Center will close at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 22, 2010 and reopen on Monday, January 3, 2011 at 7:00 a.m. All services located within the Davis Center will be closed during this time.

Custodial Services request that all office occupants empty their personal trash bins in order to prevent odors and pest from accumulating during the break.
Med Plex public areas will be serviced throughout the break (restroom policing, hallway trash removal and recycling, and break rooms). Basic public services will also be provided to Residential Life (see Residential Life), Library Services (see Library), Athletics open areas (see Athletics), and Police Services. Scheduled university events will be serviced (set-up, breakdown and cleaning).
Snow removal will occur as needed and to support the UVM community.

Enterprise Technology Services (ETS)
In order to support essential University functions during the winter break, all centrally-supported information technology infrastructure services will be available, including:
Most of Enterprise Technology Services' regular support services will be closed, but ETS is providing services to help with the most urgent information technology issues.

The ETS Computing Help Line will be open on a reduced schedule. Please refer to www.uvm.edu/it/help/ for details. Send help requests at any time online or by calling 656-2604; if we are unable to answer, please leave a message so that we can call you back. Response time for assistance will be greater than normal, and on-site and in-person help will not be available. Complex and nonemergency issues will be addressed after the break. Computer Depot operations housed in the Davis Center will be unavailable while the Davis Center is closed. Depot operations will resume their normal schedule beginning at 9:00 AM, Monday, January 3, 2011.

The extended break affects the semi-monthly and biweekly payrolls scheduled for December 29.
For the semi-monthly payroll of Wednesday, December 29, 2010 the due date for the submission of documents is being moved to Monday, December 6, 2010. The pay date itself remains December 29.
For direct depositors the payroll will be distributed to member banks on Monday, December 27, 2010 for deposit on Wednesday, December 29, 2010.
For the biweekly payroll dated Wednesday, December 29, 2010, time worked will need to be submitted by Thursday, December 16, 2010 at 12:00 noon. This early deadline means that some of the time to be worked during the closing will have to be submitted before it is actually worked. Supervisors will need to approve time before 3:00 pm on Thursday December 16, 2010. Kronos supervisors will need to submit time by 2:00 pm on Thursday December 16, 2010. For direct depositors the payroll will be distributed to member banks on Monday, December 27, 2010, for deposit on Wednesday, December 29, 2010.
For those receiving a paper paycheck delivered to UVM campus addresses—either semi-monthly or biweekly—the Human Resource Services Employee Information Center, Waterman Building Room 228, will be open on December 29, 2010 from 9:30 am to 11:30 am for check pick up. An ID will be required to pick up a check. Any checks not picked up on that date will be returned to UVM Mail Services on Monday, January 3, 2011, for distribution to campus.
Physical Plant will operate similar to a normal weekend or Holiday. To report a problem related to a facilities operational need, call SOS at 656-2560. Central plant operators will receive the call and dispatch a service technician to the affected area. Physical Plant will have a service technician on site 24/7 for these situations.
Weather pending, additional staff may be on-site if situations could be severe enough for building freeze-ups if a condition is left unattended or unnoticed. A notice to the UVM community to assist with energy savings measures will be sent shortly.
Police Services will provide public safety services per normal and customary practices and will be open 24/7 during the break.
The residence halls close for Winter Break at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 17 and reopen for returning students at noon on Sunday, January 16 (new students may arrive from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday, January 14). Exceptions are L/L, Harris Millis, and the Cottages where break housing is offered for current UVM residents. Except for the holiday break, the service desk in Robinson Hall will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays during Winter Break and 12:00 noon to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 16.
The Department of Risk Management & Environmental Safety will be closed beginning 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 22, 2010 and reopening Monday, January 3, 2011. Lab emergencies involving chemical spills or releases, any accidents resulting in serious injury, or significant property damage (fire, flood, etc.) should be reported to Police Services at 911, who will page a Risk Management & Environmental Safety employee if needed. Monday, December 20, 2010 through Sunday, January 2, 2011: All valid employee permits will be allowed parking in any lot on campus. Permits will, however, be required during regular hours with the exception of Administrative Holidays. Regular parking policy returns on January 3, 2011.
Should your car need to be parked on campus overnight while you are away on UVM business please remember to park in the middle and lower levels of Gutterson Garage. With the winter season upon us, these locations will not be in the way of snow removal during the holiday break.
